Full-day camps (Aerial & Makers/Builders)
Challenge Aerial and the Atlanta Toolbank's Summer Aerial & Makers/Builders Camps are for Rising 4th graders- Rising 9th Graders who are ready to spin and fly in the morning, and build things in the afternoon. Over five days in the morning, students will learn basic techniques and sequences on aerial silks, sling, trapeze, lyra, and rope the apparatus while developing flexibility, strength & balance in the morning. Children have fun while learning aerial arts in a safe environment that helps them-
- Build confidence to express themselves artistically
- Gain a love of physical activity
- Learn principles of physics and math that are essential to aerial (yes, really!)
- Develop artistically and intellectually
The aerial portion of the camp runs from 9:00 AM -1:00 PM Monday through Friday (drop-offs can begin at 8:30am). The camps culminate with a student showcase each Friday. Then after a lunch break from 1:00pm- 1:30pm, the Atlanta ToolBank will kick off the Makers/Builder part of the day, where campers will learn to safely use hand tools including hammer, screwdriver, sanding black and manual miter saw to build projects such as a toolbox, a tic tac toe board, a balance board, an art display board and more. Closed toes shoes must be worn for this part of the camp. Please note, clothes may get dirty/gritty, so don't wear nice new clothes!
